Zach Snyder Creating New Norse Mythology-Based Anime For Netflix
by Gary Catig
The man responsible for ushering in the DC Extended Universe, Zach Snyder, is jumping into a new genre. Snyder will create a new anime series set in the world of Norse mythology for Netflix. He will work with frequent collaborator, Jay Oliva, who will serve as the showrunner and director. Both will be creators and executive producers. Deborah Snyder and Wesley Collar will produce the show with Snyder through Stone Quarry Animation, their production company’s latest venture with Oliva.
John Derderian, head of Anime programming for Netflix says:
Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation. We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style.
This is not the first time either Snyder or Oliva have developed projects with the streaming giant. Snyder is presently directing, writing and producing the zombie thriller, Army of the Dead while Oliva is currently in production for the original anime, Trese, based off of a supernatural Filipino comic series. No title or other details were announced.
