The DC/Vertigo Branding Remains On Final Trailer For The Kitchen

Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinemas have released a final trailer for their upcoming film The Kitchen. Starring Tiffany Haddish, Melissa McCarthy, and Elisabeth Moss as three woman in Hell’s Kitchen who take organized crime into their own hands when their husbands end up in the joint. And as the trailer reveals, their choices put them on a collision course with a powerful mob figure. Will they survive the meeting?

But of interest to us is the DC/Vertigo vanity card at the beginning of the trailer. The film is based on the series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle and originally published by DC’s Vertigo imprint. It’s the very same Vertigo that will be shut down by DC Entertainment by year’s end. At one point, Vertigo titles like The Kitchen and the now-defunct Sandman film were to be funneled into development at New Line Cinema as part of plan devised by former studio boss Kevin Tsujiahara. But with his departure and new corporate owner AT&T shuffling the deck, it is unclear if any other films will ever feature the DC/Vertigo logo. Indeed, it is unclear if any projects New Line had in development as part of the Vertigo plan will go forward.

In the meantime, The Kitchen made it a releasable state and will arrive in theaters on August 9th.
