Investigating A Super-Powered Conspiracy: Fictional Marvels Podcast Coming This Fall To Stitcher
by Gary Catig
Marvel partnered with Stitcher, the podcast listening service, to create a Wolverine fictional audio series that is currently in its second season. The two entertainment companies have collaborated again, this time to produce Marvels, a ten-episode series launching this fall.
Marvels is part of the 25th anniversary celebration of Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross’ four-part comic book, “Marvels”. The story revisits Phil Sheldon, a photojournalist, who tries to survive Galactus’ invasion of New York. The podcast occurs after the battle between the Devourer of Worlds and the Fantastic Four where a photographer, an ambitious college student and a cynical journalist investigate one of the most super-powered conspiracy theories in history.
The main cast includes Clifford “Method Man” Smith as Ben Urich, Anna Sophia Robb as Marcia Hardesty, Seth Barrish as Phil Sheldon and Ethan Peck as Mr. Fantastic. Other members include Louisa Krause as Sue Storm, Jake Hart as Ben Grimm, Ehad Berisha as Johnny Storm, Teo Rapp-Olson as Peter Parker and Gabriela Ortega as Charlie Martinez.
Shane Rahmani, SVP and GM, Marvel New Media says:
Building off our award-winning momentum of Marvel’s Wolverine: The Long Night and its sequel Marvel’s Wolverine: The Lost Trail, the New Media team is thrilled to continue to push the envelope of Super Hero storytelling via the scripted podcast medium. We are passionate about the space and feel we’ve brought the right cast, story, and intrigue in this latest installment.
Marvels is written by Lauren Shippen, directed by Paul Bae with sound design by Mischa Stanton. The series will be available exclusively on Stitcher Premium until 2020, when it will receive wide release on all podcast platforms.
