Flula Borg Joins The Suicide Squad As A Potential Love Interest

Will romance blossom among the Suicide Squad?
Deadline reports German actor/DJ/comedian Flula Borg has joined the cast of The Suicide Squad in an unspecified role said to be a love interest for one of the characters. The film, based on the DC Comics title, features the return of Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney as Suicide Squad‘s Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang. Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman also reprise their roles as government minders Amanda Waller and Rick Flag, with Idris Elba signing up in a still secret role while David Dastmalchian and Daniela Melchior take on the parts of the Polka-Dot Man and the Ratcatcher.
The film will be directed by Guardians of the Galaxy mastermind James Gunn, who signed up during his brief exile from Marvel Studios. The kerfuffle led to Guardians‘s third volume being delayed until at least 2022 while he completes work on The Suicide Squad. Initially intended as a something of a revamp — with Elba set to star as Deadshot — the film has become more of a sequel as many of the original film’s cast were announced. A decision was also made to revise Elba’s character into someone other than Deadshot. Of course, with the DC cinematic continuity all but dead, it is unclear if this effort is really necessary.
The Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 6th, 2021.
