Gamescom 2019: Almost 20 Minutes Of Gameplay Footage From Marvel’s Avengers
by Gary Catig
Since details were announced, Marvel’s Avengers has been generating lots of buzz. The story-driven third person adventure game allows players to assume the role of one of five members of the superhero team. Prior to today, the only opportunities to see actual gameplay footage was if you were fortunate enough to attend either E3 or SDCC. At this year’s Gamescom, publisher, Square Enix, had playable demos of the anticipated video game and they also revealed the gameplay to the public via their YouTube page. Following is background description for the video along with almost twenty minutes of footage of the opening level.
Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Marvel’s Avengers is developed by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal and will come out May 15, 2020 on the PS4 and all of the Xbox family of devices.
