Brandon Routh And Courtney Ford Plot Their Legends Of Tomorrow Exit
by Erik Amaya
Time is running short of Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Nora Darhk (Courtney Ford).
Deadline reports the acting couple will depart from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow during the fifth season in 2020. Apparently, creative decisions have led to wrapping up the ongoing story of Ray and Nora. The former first appeared in the third season of Arrow as Felicity Smoak’s (Emily Bett Rickards) love interest and the new owner of Queen Industries — renamed Palmer Tech. The character sought to create a power suit with which he could fight crime. Apparently dying in the season finale, Ray was shrunk down to the size of an action figure thanks to his A.T.O.M. technology. After Team Arrow helped him regain his normal size in Season 4, he joined the Legends as one of its science bros.
Nora first debuted in the third season of Legends as the villainous daughter of Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), but found her allegiance to Damien’s plan falter as she got to know Ray. In the fourth season, she was a “guest” of the Time Bureau and ended the year by becoming a fairy godmother.
When we spoke to Routh about the growing romantic tension between the characters last Fall, he suggested things would work out happier for Ray than in his last several relationships. Hopefully, that will remain true and both Ray and Nora can leave the Waverider with an unusual — but earned — happily ever after.
In fact, a statement by executive producers Phil Klemmer, Grainee Godfree and Keto Shimizu suggests as much. “We love these characters and hope to check in with them in future seasons to see how life off the ship has transformed them for better or worse,” they said.
Legends of Tomorrow returns to The CW in 2020.
