Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit Trailer Reveals An Unlikely Fairytale In Nazi Germany
by Erik Amaya
In between making Thor movies, talented multihyphenate Taika Waititi makes pictures like Jojo Rabbit. And as seen in this trailer for the upcoming film, it’s better for us that he makes projects like these and movies about the God of Thunder.
In Jojo Rabbit, Roman Griffin Davis stars as Jojo Betzler, a ten-year-old boy completely swept up in the Hitler Youth. He’s so in the tank that his imaginary friend is the Fürher himself (Waititi). But the seeming carefree days of camp outings and learning myths about Jews comes crashing down when he discovers his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in the crawlspaces of their home. Will the truth about the Nazis break the regime’s hold on Jojo? Well, it has to since Waititi’s films tend to skew toward the positive. And as the trailer suggests, Jojo’s journey to understanding will probably be highly entertaining.
Jojo Rabbit hits theaters on October 18th.
