Jeffrey Wright And Jonah Hill To Join The Batman
by Erik Amaya
Jonah Hill may be taking a trip to Gotham City.
Deadline reports the actor is in talks to appear in the film in an undisclosed, but villainous role. Additionally, Jeffrey Wright is said to be in negotiations to play Commissioner Gordon. Which, honestly, sounds like a great choice to play Jim.
Meanwhile, it is easy to look at Hill, who has always been a little overweight, as a likely candidate to play the Penguin. But that might be a little too on the nose at this point. Besides, the Internet would collapse if Josh Gad doesn’t get to play Oswald Cobblepot. So if not the Penguin, then who? Rupert Thorne would be a good pull as he’s never appeared in a live action Batman film and goes a long way to bridging the gap between Gotham City mobsters and the costumed crazies. He would also be an interesting choice to play Arnold Wesker — aka the Ventriloquist. That would be a really left-field choice.
At one time, director Matt Reeves said the film would explore the detective aspects of Batman, so the villain would, ideally, be someone the Dark Knight can match wits with. Maybe the Riddler? With production set to being in early 2020, we imagine the secret will be revealed soon.
The Batman is set for release on June 25th, 2021.
