NYCC 2019: DC’s Year Of The Villain

At NYCC 2019 DC comics teased upcoming events in Year of the Villain. Panelists included Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, James Tynion IV, Jock, Cecil Castellucci, Joshua Williamson, and Cully Hamner.
The panelists were asked who their favorite villain was in the DCU. Snyder, Jock and Hamner chose the Joker, Tynion settled on Lex Luthor, Williamson threw down for Reverse Flash, and Castellucci advocated for Catwoman. Capullo jokingly chose his writer Scott Snyder as the greatest villain in the DCU before settling on The Batman Who Laughs.
As it turns out this Jokerized version of Batman will have a big role to play in the upcoming Year of the Villain. The Batman Who Laughs will face off against Apex Lex Luthor and it will take the combined forces of the Justice League and Justice Society to give humanity a fighting chance.
The results of this conflict will be felt across all the books and Snyder hinted that this is a battle our heroes can’t win. As Tynion concluded in a fight between Apex Lex Luthor and The Batman Who Laughs, whoever wins humanity loses.
Look for Year of Villain this fall from DC Comics.
