It’s Sibling Rivalry In A Preview Of Next Week’s Supergirl

by Erik Amaya

Though Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and her friends were able to stop Midnight (Jennifer Cheon Garcia), Malefic continues to put his plans into motion. And if this preview of next week’s Supergirl is any indication, he will use his Martian abilities to pit Alex (Chyler Leigh) against her super-powered sister. How will J’onn (David Harewood) stop his brother from breaking the bonds of the Danvers family? Also, will his memory blocks dissolve before he’s forced to face off against his suddenly returned brother? Oh, and while we’re asking questions, why did The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) pull Malefic across space and time in the first place?

Meanwhile, last night’s debut was one of the strongest and quickest paced episodes of Supergirl in ages. The duplicity of Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) was a delight to see and Kara’s confession scene was just heartbreaking — especially as it only changed one aspect of Lena’s revenge plan. It’s sad that her brother was able to finally break her by using Kara’s secret … but maybe the Crisis will save her from becoming Supergirl’s mortal enemy.
And while we’re making predictions, you almost have to wonder if Catco will survive the Crisis. With James (Mehcad Brooks) quitting and the new — almost certainly Leviathan-connected — owner changing it to a clickbait mill, it almost seems as though the business will be destroyed when the Red Skies come to Earth-38. In fact, it’s possible National City will be destroyed entirely and Kara will need a new job. Maybe The Daily Planet will be hiring.
Supergirl airs Sundays on The CW.
