Spider-Verse Features Fan-Created Spidersona Artwork

The new Spider-Verse comic from Marvel explores new universes and the alternate reality Spider-characters that live there. As we’ve seen in the recent Spider-Geddon event, there are quite a few of them. Marvel put out the call for new “Spidersona” creations from fans and got a bunch. Three of which are featured in Spider-Verse #1, available now.



These are some pretty cool images and ideas, although I have to wonder how ownership works for something like this. Does Marvel own these Spidersonas now? Were the creators compensated? Or just sent a few free copies of the comic? I’m leery of fan art contests by major publishers.
