Last week’s episode of Titans left Jason Todd (Curran Walters) in the midst of a literal cliffhanger. And if the echoes to the character’s infamous fate in the pages of Batman comics were not strong enough, DC Universe has opened a poll allowing fans to once again whether or not the second Robin should live or die.

Currently, “Jason Dies!” rests at 51%.

The whole stunt recalls the time DC Comics let readers decide the character’s fate with a 1-800 number. In that instance, Jason did indeed die, though he was later resurrected by multiversal means and became the Red Hood. We’ve been saying the Red Hood is Jason’s fate for some time in our Brief Thoughts on Titans series. In fact, we’re willing to bet Jason will seem to die in the next episode, but end up under the guidance of Deathstroke (Esai Morales), who inspires Jason to take on the Red Hood persona. Besides pushing Jason closer to his destiny, it allows the series to introduce Tim Drake, the superior replacement Robin out of the two.

As it happens, we’ve also praised Walters’ performance as the annoying, corruptible comic book character since he first appeared in Season 1. So we’d love to see him unleashed as an adversary. Hopefully, the boy wonder’s fate will be revealed tomorrow.
