Star Wars Comics Will Relaunch After Empire Strikes Back
by James Ferguson
After dozens of issues of Star Wars, Marvel is relaunching the title with a new #1. It seems even galaxies far, far away are not immune to reboots. This new series, beginning in January, takes place between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The new ongoing title is written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Jesus Saiz. The first issue has a cover by RB Silva.
It’s a dark time for the Rebellion. The fleet is scattered following a disastrous defeat at the Battle of Hoth. Han Solo is frozen in carbonite and held by Boba Fett. Luke Skywalker learned the horrifying truth about his past and his connection to Darth Vader. Luke, Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 must fight their way back to the Rebel Alliance with the fate of the entire galaxy hanging in the balance. While there is hope in the distance, there’s an Imperial trap waiting for them with the vengeful Commander Zahra at the helm of the Tarkin’s Will.
Star Wars #1 is set for release in January 2020.
