WWE’s The New Day Announces OGN Creative Team At NYCC 2019

While WWE Superstars The New Day were not physically at New York Comic Con this year, their presence was felt none the less. Boom! Studios surprised fans with a video from the group, announcing the creative team for their upcoming graphic novel. Writers Evan Narcisse and Austin Walker will be joined by artist Daniel Bayliss for the title, due out next year.

Co-Writer Evan Narcisse says:

I grew up loving and watching the Superstars of yesteryear but it wasn’t until I first saw The New Day that I felt like I finally got the sports entertainment that I’d been waiting for my whole life. The wit, charisma, and energy that Kofi, Xavier, and Big E show in the ring is incredibly infectious and I can’t wait to translate all that to the medium of comics.

The New Day are tailor made for comics. The colorful antics of Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods will be a perfect fit for the medium. I mean, they throw pancakes into the crowd and wear unicorn horns. What more do you need?
Co-writer Austin Walker added:

Watching the rise of the New Day has been an absolute dream, so bringing their story to comics is a dream come true. The trio of Big E, Kofi, and Xavier have entertained millions around the world not only by being incredible performers in the ring, but by unapologetically being their authentic selves outside the ring. If we can capture even a little bit of their brilliance and humor, we’ll have a great comic on our hands.

This is the latest book coming from the partnership between Boom! Studios and WWE. We’ve seen an ongoing series, some specials, and a few graphic novels.

Artist Daniel Bayliss says:

The New Day is the most fun and entertaining tag team in WWE today! I just want to bring the same kind of excitement and joy they transmit in the ring back into the pages of this book.

Bayliss also drew the cover for the graphic novel.
