The DEO Gets Incepted In A Preview Of Next Week’s Supergirl

by Erik Amaya

With all those Obsidian North AR contact lenses floating around, this was bound to happen. On next week’s Supergirl, Alex (Chyler Leigh) finds herself alone as someone incepts the DEO. Meanwhile, Kara (Melissa Benoist) has her hands full trying to uncover the culprit. Will Alex manage to survive the long night on her own?

And speaking of Alex, Kelly’s (Azie Tesfai) mention of dread puts something else into play for the coming Crisis. Back when we spoke to Leigh at Comic-Con, she mentioned the Crisis would be a game-changer for the series. Now, at the time, we just assumed that meant the merging of Earth-38 with Earth-1. But what if it also means Alex is among the causalities?
Of course, part of the show’s successful premise is the relationship between Kara and Alex, but what could be more of a game-changer than Alex sacrificing herself for the good of the multiverse? Sure, it’d be devastating, and the series would have to drop the Leviathan storyline for a long while to work through her death, but maybe its the right thing for the show to do.
Alternatively, Kelly’s stated sense of dread while watching Alex be a hero could be a red herring. Whether her comment is a hint or a dodge, it certainly gives the show a little bit of the Crisis energy The Flash and Arrow have been enjoying all season.
Supergirl airs Sundays on The CW.
