Dr. Strange Scrubs Up In New Comic Trailer

by James Ferguson

Dr. Strange is getting a new series after he’s been restored to his former level of surgical supremacy. To further promote the series relaunch, Marvel Comics has released a teaser trailer featuring Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Editor Darren Shan, and writer Mark Waid.

Shan says:

Doctor Strange now has two jobs. By night he’s the Sorcerer Supreme, the master of the mystic arts. But by day, he’s now also the world’s greatest surgeon.

Doctor Strange has moved his work life to McCarthy Medical Institute, serving as their leading neurosurgeon. That doesn’t mean that he’s left his duties as the world’s most powerful mage behind. He also serves as the last lien of defense between the worst eldritch evils that any dimension has to offer. Working two jobs can be tough, but this is ridiculous.

Waid added:

We want to get more into the heart of Doctor Strange and what it’s like to have to make the decisions he has to make every day.

I’m not a fan of the never-ending reboots that Marvel has been doing. Did we really need a new issue #1 for this? Mark Waid was already writing Dr. Strange, so it’s not like there’s a sudden change up in the creative team. I do like these trailers though. They’re a great way to get a brief glimpse as to what’s going on in a title and get some excitement brewing.

Dr. Strange #1 is written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Kev Walker. It’s set for release on December 25th, 2019.
