New Spongebob Movie Trailer Dazzles With Stylized CGI

Spongebob returns to theaters with his latest undersea adventure The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run. The world of Bikini Bottom is given new life in a beautiful cell-shaded animation with a painterly esthetic, as seen in the following trailer:
Spongebob has had its peaks and valleys in terms of quality. After the passing of Spongebob’s creator Stephen Hillenburg, fans feared for the show’s future. Nickelodeon’s announcement of a CGI prequel series titled Kamp Koral, was understandably met with skepticism. However, Sponge On The Run is by far the most visually sumptuous artistic interpretation of the character I’ve ever seen. If this is what the future of Spongebob looks like count me in.
