The Witcher Tops Our Netflix Picks For December

We’ve been talking about it from the moment it was announced and we cannot wait to see the first season of The Witcher on Netflix. Thankfully, the series debut is only one month away — which means it tops our Netflix picks for the month of December. Based on the novels and stories of Andrzej Sapkowski, Henry Cavill portrays Geralt of Rivia, the famed Witcher who roams The Continent during a mythical medieval period. As a freelancer, he hunts legendary monsters for profit, but often finds himself involved in geopolitical upsets (in spite of his own political neutrality). According to Netflix, he also “struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.” Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan also star as key Witcher characters Yennifer and Ciri.
But if you’re looking for something in the bloodsucking vein, Netflix will also debut V Wars, based on the IDW comics and prose series. Ian Somerhalder stars as Dr. Luther Swann, a physician who watches in horror as his best friend turns into a murderous creature thanks to a new terrible pathogen.
And if spy movies are more your holiday tradition, the Pierce Brosnan James Bond movies will join the service toward the end of the month while the Austin Powers spy spoofs hit the ground running on December 1st.
