Dex Faces The Consequences In A Preview Of Next Week’s Stumptown

by Erik Amaya

Dex (Cobie Smulders) may have worked through some of her issues this week, but her problem with Liz (Monica Barbaro) has jumped from a seemingly jealousy to something altogether different. And now that they’ve seen each other in the the altogether, it’s time to face the consequences. Will it put Dex in the doghouse with everyone?

Next week’s case also sounds interesting. Dex goes undercover as a substitute teacher after an old classmate enlists her help to find out who planted drugs on her daughter. It’s back to high school for Dex and, probably, a chance to deal with more sludge from the past.
Granted, it seemed her confrontation with Naomi (Moon Dailly) did lead to a net positive. And, to be honest, it seemed they had more electric chemistry at the end than Dex had with Liz. But maybe that is step to far for this show. The again, its occasional exploration of reservation life is one of Stumptown‘s unique features. One wonders how the counsel and Sue Lynn (Tantoo Cardinal) would deal with Naomi’s apparent bisexuality. It’s probably not a story the show will tell, but it would mean more time for Sue Lynn and Hollis (Gregory Zaragoza) to shine. And really, we don’t see enough of them.
Stumptown airs Wednesdays on ABC.
