Discover Tweenage Dreams In Lois Lane And The Friendship Challenge First Look

by James Ferguson

DC continues to expand upon its line of middle grade graphic novels. We’re delighted to share an early preview of Lois Lane and the Friendship Challenge, due out in July 2020. Written by Grace Ellis, illustrated by Brittney L. Williams, colored by Caitlin Quirk, and lettered by Ariana Maher, the comic follows a young Lois Lane as she arrives in the sleepy town of Liberty View on the first day of summer break.

Lois is determined to create some videos that will go viral, although her best friend Kristen isn’t as keen on the idea. When the fireworks go missing from the big neighborhood barbeque, Lois doubles down on her quest for fame, testing her friendship with her BFF. Time is running out as Kristen is leaving for sleepaway camp soon and a new girl on the block is stealing all of her attention. Lois must find the missing fireworks, celebrate the summer, and post the best #friendshipchallenge the internet has ever seen while also facing her challenges in real life.
I love the commitment DC has shown to these middle grade titles. They provide a new unique look at characters we’ve known for decades that is sure to resonate with a younger audience.  I’m particularly fond of The Secret Spiral of Swamp Kid and Dear Justice League.

Lois Lane and the Friendship Challenge is set for release on July 21st, 2020 and will retail for $9.99. It’s currently available for pre-order at your local comic shop, book store, and Amazon.
