I Have Great Expectations For This One: Preview Adler #1 From Lavie, McCaffery And Titan Comics
by Olly MacNamee
Adler, a new series billed as “The League of Extraordinary Gentlewomen” by Titan Comics and written by Lavie Tidhar with art by Paul McCaffrey a book I’ve been eagerly awaiting ever since I heard about it last November. A familiar face for Sherlock Holmes fans, Adler and an assortment of Victorian era female literary and historical figures team up to take on Moriarty, the greatest criminal genius of all time. Well, the 19th century at least. I reckon Victor Von Doom and Lex Luthor may have something to say about that otherwise.
Anyway, take in our previous first look at this book – with an appearance by a young and pre-jilted-at-the-altar ‘Lady’ Havisham (from Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations) – and the preview below and you get a real good feel of the first issue, out February 5th from Titan Comics. Enjoy the view.
For Sherlock, there was only ever one woman – now Irene Adler is on a mission to take down Moriarty! It’s the League of Extraordinary Gentlewomen, as Adler teams up with a host of famous female faces from science, history and literature to defeat the greatest criminal mastermind of all time!
