Katy Has A Proposal To Answer In A Preview Of Next Week’s Katy Keene
by Rachel Bellwoar
If Katy (Lucy Hale) was worried about how K.O. (Zane Holtz) would respond to her decision not to move to Philly, she certainly didn’t expect him to get down on one knee and propose. While this promo for next week’s Katy Keene doesn’t give away her answer, the episode title, “You Can’t Hurry Love,” hints at some reservations. Another question that didn’t get a satisfying answer in the “Pilot” was the question of what Pepper (Julia Chan) does for a living. The reference to “eight million dollars” doesn’t make it any clearer, but it sure does raise the stakes. Meanwhile, it sounds like it might be Jorge’s (Jonny Beauchamp) turn to consider leaving New York — except we already know he isn’t keen on the idea. The question is who’s been telling him he should go?
Katy Keene is off to a strong start (you can read our full review of the episode here) and, after Riverdale on Wednesdays, it’ll be nice to have something lighter to look forward to on Thursdays. Setting the show in New York was a big move, though. Besides having to contend with all of the New York-set shows that have come before and find new ways of telling stories there, New York isn’t Riverdale. It’s a real place where, granted, a lot of weird stuff happens and nobody blinks an eye, but a place that will arguably have to be more grounded in reality than the nonsense Riverdale gets away (we said lovingly). What does that mean for Katy, Josie (Ashleigh Murray), and Jorge, who are all pursuing careers in professions that are difficult to break into? Hard to say after one episode, but we’ll be sticking around to find out.
Katy Keene airs Thursdays on The CW.
