Wes Anderson is easily in my top three favorite directors. No one else has such a singular vision combined with tonal variety. Anderson’s latest film The French Dispatch a love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional 20th-century French city that brings to life a collection of stories published in “The French Dispatch” magazine.
The film has everything I’ve grown to expect from a Wes Anderson film but with a heightened sense of danger and excitement, especially in the black and white sequences. I feel that Anderson is at the top of his game and his filmmaking proves that spectacle can be more than just explosions.
Go out and support The French Dispatch in theaters July 24, 2020.
