Preview: The Thing Looks Into A Mystery On Yancy Street in ‘Fantastic Four Grimm Noir’ #1 By Duggan, Garney And Milla

by Olly MacNamee

Gerry Duggan and Ron Garney bring us a crime-noir thriller, but centred around the Fantastic Four’s ever-lovin’ blue-eyed Thing, in new mini-series Fantastic Four Grimm Noir #1 from Marvel. Although, looking at the preview below, I’d love to see a balk and white version. I’ve always felt Garney to be an excellent artist when it comes to his utilisation of blank space on the page; something akin to Frank Miller’s own black and white work on Sin City, and this looks to me like it would make a great black and white comic. Juts look at the panel, below, in which the Thing is rudely awoken from a nightmare. It would have certainly made it even more crime-noir. But, as you can see, this isn’t the plan, sadly. A good-looking comic nonetheless.

Ben Grimm throws on his hat and overcoat to solve a mystery that’s come alive right out of his nightmares. What is Dr. Strange’s nemesis D’Spayre doing on Yancy Street?
