Katy Finds Herself In A Royal Jam In A Preview Of Next Week’s ‘Katy Keene’

by Rachel Bellwoar

Question: did anyone else think Jorge (Jonny Beauchamp) meant the Spider-Man musical when he told François (Nathan Lee Graham) he wanted his new show to be Kiss of the Spider Woman? There’s a possibility this writer did, but Kiss of the Spider Woman won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1993. Unlike Hedwig and the Angry Inch (which is going to be Riverdale‘s musical this year), it doesn’t have a film version (or it does but it’s a drama based on the same book by Manuel Puig, not a musical). The promo for next week’s episode provides an early peak at Ginger’s costume but if it’s the music you’re after, you’re going to have to wait (or buy a copy of the Broadway cast album).

Also waiting for an answer: Gloria (Katherine LaNasa), who needs to know whether Katy (Lucy Hale) will design a wedding dress for Patricia (Erica Pappas). Since Prince Errol (Saamer Usmani) and Patricia seemed happy together until this episode, his feelings for Katy were hard to see coming, but they could’ve made a cute couple, if he’d told Katy the truth about breaking off his engagement. Gloria will be furious with Katy if she doesn’t accept, but then Katy will be furious with her when she finds out she hasn’t been told everything about her mother (and it is a matter of when, not if Katy finds out).
Katy Keene airs Thursdays on The CW.
