Valiant Announces Remastered Classic ‘Shadowman’ Video Game
by Gary Catig
Back in December, Valiant Entertainment announced they were taking a more active role in developing video games based off of their properties. In partnership with Blowfish studios, they would create all-new action-packed video games featuring their characters. Well, it looks like they aren’t just focusing on new titles.
The comic publisher is teaming up with Nightdive Studios to release a remastered version of their classic Shadowman. It will be available on Steam, GOG platforms, PlayStation, Xbox and switch consoles. The game was originally released in 1999 on PC, PS1, N64 and Dreamcast consoles. It followed the titular character as he protects mankind from dangerous creatures from the Deadside as they try to enter our world.
Nightdive Studios was responsible for the rerelease of the full version onto PC back in 2014 so it made sense that they would help to make the remastered edition. They will use their proprietary KEX engine to restore and update the game for current gen consoles. Other features include:
* 4K widescreen display
* Dynamic shadow mapping
* Dynamic per-pixel lighting
* Antialiasing, and other post-process effects
* Higher density of particle effects
* Refined art, audio, and assets
* Refined gameplay experience
* Reintroduction of missing content cut from the original game
* Xbox, PS4, Controller Pro support
* HDR Rendering
In addition to the video game, Valiant is set to release a new Shadowman comic series on May 20th with the creative team of writer, Cullen Bunn, and artist, Jon Davis-Hunt.
