K.O. Starts His Modeling Career In A Preview Of Next Week’s ‘Katy Keene’

by Rachel Bellwoar

A lot of shows would’ve tried to make a cliffhanger out of Jorge (Jonny Beauchamp) and Bernardo (Ryan Faucett) being jumped at the end of last night’s episode. For resisting that urge, whoever edits the promos for Katy Keene deserves a lot of credit. Jorge’s attack is still one of the focuses of next week’s preview, but the question isn’t whether Jorge will be okay, but whether this attack will be what forces him and his dad (Frank Pando) to have a frank conversation. The show’s been building up to this moment and this could be the catalyst that sets things off.

As for Jorge’s musical, Kiss of the Spiderwoman may have been his show, but it was Pepper (Julia Chan) who really got a chance to shine as its producer. Katy Keene may not always be lifelike, but it was very honest about Jorge needing to compromise and not having investors show up that would allow him to put on the show exactly as he envisioned it. Everyone got something they wanted. Everyone gave something up, and as the broker of those deals, this episode felt like the moment Pepper’s career solidified. Until now the show has been having her do a little of everything, but this is what the Pepper Plant is all about.
Katy Keene airs Thursdays on The CW.
