UK Comic Book Stores Shutting Due To Covid-19 (Updated)

by Olly MacNamee

Here’s a list of stores here in the UK who are announcing that they’re shutting up shop, as of today, and their accompanying statement to customers.
Gosh Comics I London has made the difficult but sensible decisions close up shop for the foreseeable future. But, like a lot of other stores, they are working on ways to keep in contact with their customers and community through a new mail ordering service and their pre-existing web store.
Here’s their statement in full:

Then there is my very own LCBS, Worlds Apart in Birmingham, and all other Worlds Apart across the UK too who are also offering a mail order service too (expect in their Birmingham branch):
Branches of Travelling Man have set up a mail oder services for anyone self-isolating, but at the time of writing have yet to reply to my inquiries. However, with so many others now closing doors, how long will it be until they too do the same? Here’s details of their mail order service  and how to get in touch:

We’ll be here to keep you updated when we hear anything new on developments as they happen.
Keep safe from all of us here at comicon.com.

(++UPDATE++)

Travelling Man have confirmed that they too will be shutting up their branches in the North of England to help combat Covid-19 and support their staff, but they will still be providing mail order for trades and bird games still. Like all other UK bases stores they cannot even be sure of when single issue floppies will be arriving from the States over the coming week, so do be patient. After all, there are worse things to worry about that getting your regular fix of comics, right?

Plus, we now have word that Forbidden Planet are also closing their stores too. here’s their statement, plus ways in still keeping in touch:

Meanwhile, Collectors Assembly in Banbury has also closed down for the foreseeable future too. here’s their statement and how to continue to support them:
Collectors Assemble have made the difficult decision to temporarily close the doors of both of Leamington Spa and Banbury stores from 5PM today (23rd March). This is a very difficult choice for us but in order to protect our staff and customers it must be done.
We will be back and better than ever. Get ready for some big plans for Collectors Assemble once all this is over!
