The Art Of Politics: March Coronavirus Lockdown Edition
by Richard Bruton
Celebrating the wonderful world of political cartooning, with a focus from the increasingly small islands of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland… It’s been a bit of a month!
Yes, the world is on Coronavirus lockdown and things have gotten a bit scary out there. And frankly, the world’s changed beyond measure and we’re all just a little scared of what’s to come. Comics have changed as well, with temporary shop closures across the world, new comics being put on hold. All we can do is hold on, keep sticking to the rules, washing our hands, and looking after everyone as best we can.
But, one thing that hasn’t stopped is the cartooning, so we’re not going to stop showing it to you.
First off, a little message on supporting your local comic shop… from Alex Cox and Skottie Young…
And now a few of the C-Virus related cartoons we’ve seen around the place…
Chris Ware in The New Yorker (Via Paul Gravett)
Hugleikur Dagsson (Via Lakes International)
Stephen Collins…
Nigel Auchterlounie…
Will Dawbarn…
Ben Jennings on the hoarders…
Steve Bell on Donald Trump’s response… closing the US to travel…
Martin Rowson on Boris Johnson’s initial plan for developing herd immunity…
Ben Jennings on Boris’ response…
Martin Rowson on Bozza’s daily briefings…
Ben Jennings on the idea of bringing docs out of retirement…
And then Martin Rowson on Boris coming down with the virus himself…
And we’ll end here with two very poignant pieces from Chris Ridell…
Stay safe everyone, look after each other, wash your hands.
