Amazon Prime’s Retro-Futuristic New Show ‘Tales From The Loop’ Adapts Stålenhag’s Artwork Beautifully

Done with Netflix yet after a week or two in self-isolation? Maybe you’re tiring of rewatching The Mandalorian by now too? Well, I think I have your newest favourite show for you.
Launched on Friday 3rd April on Amazon Prime, Tales from the Loop looks like a stunning adoption of the artwork of Simon Stålenhag, who’s been imagining fantastic retro-futuristic vistas and building up a huge following of fans over the years with his digital artwork and subsequent books. Mixing the beauty of rural countryside of his home country of Sweden with monstrous mechas and a humanity on the brink of collapse, over the intervening years Stålenhag has but up quite the backstory with something of a political undertone to it as he went.
Now, developed or Amazon Prime, we have the trailer below which I honestly believe you’ll fall in love with straight away. I can’t wait to watch these as part of my weekend lockdown. And, I dare say, write up my own thoughts on this series too.
Inspired by the wondrous paintings of Simon Stålenhag, Tales from the Loop explores the mind-bending adventures of the people who live above the Loop, a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe – making things previously relegated to science fiction, possible.
