The Pussycats Try Out A New Sound When ‘Katy Keene’ Returns Later This Month

by Rachel Bellwoar

Fans have another week to go before new episodes of Katy Keene return, but in the meantime the CW have released a trailer.
If Josie (Ashleigh Murray) wasn’t thrilled at the prospect of reuniting with the Pussycats when she thought Alex’s dad (Peter Francis James) meant Val (Haley Law) and Mel (Asha Bromfield), she’s not going to be pleased when she learns his real intentions.

Mr. Cabot isn’t interested in her old high school band. He’s interested in the Pussycat name, and since he’s decided that Josie isn’t marketable as a solo artist, that means hiring two singers to be her bandmates without her input. Do Josie & the Pussycats 2.0 stand a chance, and does this mean Val and Mel won’t be making the crossover from Riverdale to Katy Keene after all?
The other big focus in this promo is Katy’s (Lucy Hale‘s) career, which has been in flux since the show started. It looks like her apprenticeship with Guy (Luke Cook) is still on, anyway — which is more than can be said for her window dressing job with Francois (Nathan Lee Graham) — but how long will that last?
Conspicuously absent from this trailer: Pepper (Julia Chan), whose secrets came under fire in episode eight. Will episode nine break any new revelations about her past?
Katy Keene returns Thursday, April 16th on The CW.
