Jon Favreau Reportedly Already Writing Third Season of ‘The Mandalorian’

Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) adventures will continue.
Variety reports the Disney+ series The Mandalorian is already developing its third season well ahead of the second season’s expected debut in October. Sources tell the site creator/executive producer Jon Favreau has been writing scripts for the third year already and that the Lucasfilm art department is well underway developing new designs for the production.
Of course, it is impossible to guess what that third year story might be as we’re all still guessing where the second season will take Djarin and the Child. As we speculated previously, it is easy to think the show may maintain its Lone Wolf & Cub-inspired travelogue pace. But with Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) in possession of the Darksaber and on Djarin’s tail, it is possible the series could shift into another mode.
Considering how it wears its Japanese cinema influences on its wrist-gauntlet, a Rashomon or High and Low homage would be awesome to see. Also, it would be amazing if it could pull off an episodes inspired by the sometime plot-less films of Yasujiro Ozu. Then again, Star Wars has an undeniable Western influence The Mandalorian could tap for stories, aesthetics, and ideas.
The second season of the series is expected to debut this October.
