Today is a day dominated by DC Comics announcements coming fast and thick with another new piece of comic book news pertaining to Batman (again). This time it’s the new that DC Comics will be celebrating Batman’s first appearance with an over-sized anniversary issue of Detective Comics #1027, marking Batman’s 1000 appearance in this title.
Weighing in at 144 pages, the creative teams contributing to this issue includes Greg Rucka/Eduardo Risso, Grant Morrison/Chris Burnham, Tom King/Walt Simonson, James Tynion IV/Riley Rossmo, Peter J. Tomasi/Brad Walker, Dan Jurgens, Marv Wolfman/Emanuela Lupacchino and Bill Sienkiewicz, Brian Michael Bendis/David Marquez, Mariko Tamaki/Dan Mora, Scott Snyder/Ivan Reis, Kelly Sue DeConnick/John Romita Jr and Klaus Janson, and Matt Fraction/Chip Zdarsky.
Not much more than that, but that list of creators should be enough to have you salivating for September 15th when it all come out for $9.99. I would argue it’s probably an even bigger and better team of creator than worked on Detective Comics #1000. But, I’ll reserve my judgement for after I’ve read it in a few months time. I can’t wait! But, it must be said, DC Comics are killing it each and every time with the anniversary issue they’ve been putting out for a good few years now.
