Yen Press Acquires ‘Kingdom Hearts III’ And ‘Wizards Of Mickey’ Manga

by James Ferguson

Yen Press and JY have acquired two new manga series under the Disney umbrella in Kingdom Hearts III and Wizards of Mickey. The former will be published under the Yen Press imprint while the latter will fall under the JY imprint for middle grade readers.

Kingdom Hearts III, created by Tetsuya Nomura and illustrated by Shiro Amano, is a manga retelling of the video game of the same name that came out last year. It follows Sora, who was chosen by the Keyblade as he sets out to reclaim his power, joined by his friends, Donald and Goofy.

Wizards of Mickey, written by Stefano Ambrosio and illustrated by Lorenzo Pastrovicchio is a full-color graphic novel series placing Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy in a fantasy setting. It’s an original story following Mickey’s pursuit of magical artifacts and greatness as a wizard. This was originally published in Italy in Topolino and has since been released around the world in several languages and even adapted into a video game and trading card game.
Both Kingdom Hearts III: Volume 1 and Wizards of Mickey: Volume 1 are set for release in November 2020.
