BOOM! Studios Reveals Dune: House Atreides Creative Team

by James Ferguson

BOOM! Studios had recently announced a Dune: House Atreides comic, a twelve-issue limited series adapted from Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s prequel novels for Dune based on Frank Herbert’s notes. It’s now revealed the creative team for the series. Joining Herbert and Anderson will be artist Dev Pramanik and colorist Alex Guimarães. The comic is published in partnership with Herbert Properties LLC and in coordination with Abrams ComicArts who are publishing graphic novel adaptations of the original Dune novel.

Dune: House Atreides takes us to the far future on the desert planet Arrakis. It’s here Pardot Kynes searches for the planet’s ecological secrets. Meanwhile, Shaddam Corrino, the son of Emperor Elrood, plans a violent coup, an 8-year-old slave Duncan Idaho seeks to escape his cruel masters, and a young Leto Atreides begins a fateful journey. These three souls are drawn together first as renegades and then as something more. Their true fate will shape history itself.
Dafna Pleban, Senior Editor, BOOM! Studios says:

Dune is one of the most exciting and important sci-fi worlds ever created – so once we had Brian and Kevin onboard, we knew we needed some of the best artists in the business to deliver the kind of series that would deliver on the epic story they’re telling. Dev and Alex bring an exciting look to the world of Dune, with Vladimir Harkonnen and Duke Leto visualized for the very first time in comic book format. Add in superstar artists like Jae Lee and Dan Mora bringing jaw dropping covers and you’ve got a series unlike anything else in comics.

Fans attending The Official Dune Publishing Panel on the Comic-Con@Home site will get some more information about the comic.
Dune: House Atreides #1 will feature a main cover by Jae Lee and variant covers by Dan Mora and others. It’s set for release on October 21st, 2020.
