Digital Diamond: Alan Davis’s ‘Killraven’ Battles It Out In A War Of The Worlds

by Olly MacNamee

As a kid and comic book fan growing up in the UK I was immediately taken with Alan Davis’ art on Captain Britain and became a life-long fan instantly. I followed him from Marvel UK and into American comic books where he went on to illustrate some of Marvel and DC Comics’ greatest heroes, and still does to this day. But, it’s to his 6 issue mini-series, Killraven from 2002, that Davis both wrote and drew, that I want to draw your attention now as it’s juts gone up on comiXology and my ‘Digital Diamond’ of the week. If you haven’t read it yet, now might be the time. A true hidden gem in Davis’ vast career.

“In the not-so-distant future, Martians have invaded our world and laid waste to our civilization! Now, only Jonathan Raven – the gladiator known as Killraven – and his band of Freemen stand between Earth and utter annihilation! Dig sci-fi action? Love great visuals? Then grab your tub of popcorn and get ready for this modern classic from the great Alan Davis!”
