Marvel’s Avengers War Table Reveals Hawkeye Plus Information On Beta

by Sage Ashford

Developer Crystal Dynamics held another show for Marvel’s Avengers, their upcoming video game.  Running almost thirty minutes long, this time around it showed information on the game’s upcoming beta, as well as information on the game’s first added hero, Hawkeye.
From what we understand, the beta will be packed with plenty of content, starting with the basic tutorial stage, then four different missions focusing on the characters available: Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. So far we know of two Hero Missions which will feature Kamala and the Hulk, showing how the two characters work in tandem with one another.
The video also mentioned a new kind of mission: HARM Rooms, which are basically challenge rooms for players to test their abilities. There’s three different HARM Challenge Rooms, and completing them grants the player a special nameplate they can carry over into the real game.
Lastly, there will be five War Zone and five Drop Zone missions. War Zones being missions which can be played co-op or solo, where any character can be played while they explore the world. War Zone missions can range from ten minutes to two hours according to the developers. The beta will be available to players on PlayStation 4 who’ve pre-ordered the game on August 4th, while Xbox and PC players who’ve pre-ordered it will be able to play it on August 14th a week later. Lastly, there will be an open beta for the game on August 21st, available to everyone else.

They also showed us a glimpse at the very first new Avenger to be added: Hawkeye. Based off Matt Fraction and David Aja’s run on the character, Hawkeye will feature his own story mission chain, with a unique villain being added to the world because of him.  It was also hinted that we’d get an additional three heroes at some point via DLC.  The rumors are that these characters are Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and War Machine.  Presumably there would be more characters introduced later, as the game is meant to expand over time.

Other things we learned is beating the beta will unlock a special Hulk Smashers Pickaxe in Fortnite, though this will only be available for PlayStation 4. Marvel’s Avengers will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4th, but will also come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with a free upgrade to the new consoles for players who buy it on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
