DC FanDome: ‘Shazam!’ Sequel Sets ‘Fury Of The Gods’ As Its Title
by Erik Amaya
After a lot of waffling, the Shazam! sequel has a name: Shazam: Fury of the Gods.
Star Zachary Levi opened the film’s DC FanDome presentation on Saturday with a problem — his inability to talk about the film. “Ever so slightly hamstrung in what I can reveal to you,” became his refrain.
After bringing on fellow castmembers Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, and Megan Good into a Zoom call, Levi tried to distract the audience with some obvious product placement and a “Zach Cut” of the first Shazam! This led to the film’s director, David F. Sandberg, joining the group. But all the while, Herman was drawing a Shazam! sequel poster; adding Sinbad to the Shazam Family. The comedian then appeared in the Zoom call to deal with the internet meme about a never-made Shazam! featuring him. Adam Brody also joined the call to talk about a potential Kazam 2. It was a long way to go for Faithe to then, finally reveal “Fury of the Gods” as the sequel’s subtitle.
It almost didn’t seem real until Sandberg confirmed it himself.
To a certain extent, it’s the sort of title reveal a Shazam! sequel deserved, even if we’re still not sure if Sinbad is actually part of the cast.
Shazam: Fury of the Gods is set for release on November 4th, 2022.
