‘Lumberjanes’ Series Finale Scheduled For December 2020

by James Ferguson

It had to happen sooner or later, but that doesn’t make it any easier to hear that Lumberjanes is coming to an end. BOOM! Studios has announced the series finale of this fantastic comic will come this December in a special oversized issue, Lumberjanes: End of Summer #1. Writers Kat Leyh and Shannon Watters are joined by artists Kanesha C. Bryant and Alexa Bosy for this last chapter. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

This one-shot wraps up the “End of Summer” epic event where the brave campers and counselors of Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types are fighting for their lives against the mysterious forces known as the Grey. Molly has tapped into a deep and ancient forest magic which could protect her friends and the camp, but will she be strong enough to save everyone? Or is the Grey just too powerful for anyone to stop?
Jeanine Schaefer, Executive Editor, BOOM! Studios says:

When we announced ‘End of Summer’, we knew it would be the conclusion of a journey full of friendship, wonder, and fun for the Lumberjanes and for those of us who have wandered into the forest alongside them. We’re so happy that so many readers, young and old, have found joy and adventure whenever they sat down to a new story with Jo, Mal, Ripley, April, Molly, and all the other beloved characters we’ve grown to love throughout the years. While this is the end of the Lumberjanes monthly comic book series for now, it’s not the end of the ‘Janes and new adventures, so stay tuned for more exciting news to come.

It’s hard to believe Lumberjanes has only been running for six years. It feels like it’s always been there as this constant stream of fun and adventure. The camp was always made for the summer and this one has lasted quite a long time. It’s been a great ride and it will be hard to say goodbye to these characters.
Lumberjanes: End of Summer #1 is set for release in December 2020.
