You might look at the Avengers and wonder why they all can’t have armor like Iron Man. Well, wonder no more as Avengers: Mech Strike has Earth’s Mightiest Heroes donning new high-tech armor to combat a brand-new enemy. The five-issue mini-series from writer Jed MacKay and artist Carlos Magno kicks off in February. Check out the main cover by Kei Zama below.
“Heavy metal! When the Avengers come up against something that defies their usual methods, new tools are needed for the job: giant robot suits,” said MacKay. “It’s been a blast to take on the Avengers and really put them in the thick of it. When you’re dealing with the Avengers, everything is big. Big action. Big stakes. And now, big robots!
“We’re going for non-stop, full-bore action, with a lineup of Avengers favorites going up against an unexpected new foe…that might end up being quite familiar! Aliens, robots, dinosaurs, Martians…it’s going to get worse before it gets better for our heroes.”
Marvel makes some pretty big promises in the news of Avengers: Mech Strike, describing it as an “epic story” and a “bold new age of action-packed Avengers battles that will send shockwaves throughout the comic book industry” That’s pointing to the rafters for what looks like a cash grab for a potential new toyline. I am curious as to what kind of threat would cause the Avengers to need this kind of armor though. I mean, why does the Hulk need this?
