Something For The Weekend: Reviews, Previews And News From The World Of Comics And More

We have more of the more popular posts from the past week to share with you again this Saturday, just as we do every weekend. And so, without further ado, here are ten of those posts now from another busy week here at comicon.com HQ:
- Reviews continue to prove popular with you our readers with a number making this week’s list. We had an advance review of UK title Misty Wonder Special by Richard Bruton, while James Ferguson took a look at Miles Morales: Spider-Man #21 and Brendan M Allen reviewed new AfterShock series, Knock ‘Em Dead #1.
- This week’s New To You Comics with Allen and Tony Thornley looked back at Valiant Comics’ Rai V1: Welcome To New Japan here this week.
- Meanwhile, new column Webcomic Weekly by Richard Bruton, which takes a look at some of the best web comics out there, looked at John Reppion and PJ Holden’s Folklore Thursday. A fascinating online endeavour that features stories from Britain’s fabled past. adapting them into one page strips each week. A great insightful weekly web comic that offers a wide and obscure selection of fascinating legends from around the UK. Check it out here.
- There was some movie news this week too, with the announcement that Legendary Entertainment may sue to keep Dune off HBO Max, as covered by our EiC, Erik Amaya here.
- Actor Kelly Marie Tran announced a Lego Star Wars competition this past week that you can read all bout here.
- And Dreamworks announced they would be adapting Dan Pilkey’s children’s book, Dog Man, into an animated feature. Read up on this news here.
- We also heard news of a new Superman suit debuting ahead of the new Superman and Lois TV show which we showed off here.
- Finally on the TV and film front, Koom Kankesan reviewed Deepa Mehta’s Funny Boy this past week here.
- Back to comics, and DC Comics brought us a first look at their new YA graphic novel I Am Not Starfire by Mariko Tamaki and Yoshi Yoshitani this week. It’s definitely a graphic novel you’re either going to love or leave alone, judging by some of the views shared on social media from some quarters. Which camp are you in? - Finally for this week, we’ll try and leave you with a smile on your face with a look back at a few popular previews for two new Image Comics’s series announced this past week: Guillem March’s Karmen #1 and Ultramega #1 from Image Comics.
