Loki executive producer Michael Waldron is leaping from Marvel to the Star Wars galaxy.
Deadline reports the producer/writer — who also wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness — will script Marvel Studio’s president Kevin Feige‘s upcoming Star Wars film. No details about the film have surfaced yet; indeed, it was not even mentioned during Disney’s Investor Day presentation last month. Currently, Patty Jenkins‘ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is the next theatrical Star Wars film with a scheduled December 22nd, 2023 release. A subsequent Star Wars film is currently scheduled to debut on December 19th, 2025, but it is unclear if this will be the Feige production. Both Taika Waititi and Rian Johnson have Star Wars films in development.
The Deadline report also indicates Waldron will return “in some capacity” for a second season of Loki. Rumors about the show would continue have swirled for sometime despite the program’s original intent as a limited series. This now seems to be the case, which also opens the door for shows like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Solider — also meant to be limited series — to continue on.
