Moon Knight reportedly has a few more directors.
Variety reports Synchronic directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will helm episodes of the upcoming Disney+ series. Mohamed Diab is also slated to direct episodes of the program. Although Marvel has yet to confirm casting, Oscar Isaac will reportedly star as Mark Spector, a man with dissociative identity disorder whose identities include a boxer, a vigilante, and the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Created by Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin as Marvel’s quasi-answer to the Batman, he has experienced various waves of popularity and is one of the more interesting choices for a Marvel television production. Indeed, rumors persisted for years that a Moon Knight show would join Daredevil and the other Defenders on Netflix.
The Exorcist‘s Jeremy Slater will serve as showrunner, which we think is a big indication of the program’s quality. Though short-lived, The Exorcist was a fascinating horror series which used its source material in fascinating ways. While Moon Knight is not expressly horror, we expect he will bring the same sort of sharp writing and surprising comics nods to the program.
The series is the last of the four confirmed in development during Marvel Studios’ D23 presentation in 2019. The other three programs, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Hawkeye are in various states of production and expected to debut on Disney+ over the next 18 months or so. Moon Knight will likely join them in the production phase soon, so expect to see photos of Isaac on set before Marvel announces he is the star.
