Ethan Hawke To Play ‘Moon Knight’ Bad Guy
by Erik Amaya
Ethan Hawke is the latest actor reportedly on track to make a Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will appear in the Disney+ series Moon Knight as its lead villain. The character name is, of course, unknown. According to Marvel lore, Moon Knight’s oldest enemy is a mercenary named Roald Bushman (created by Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz). The two worked together until Marc Spector (Moon Knight’s civilian identity) became disgusted with Bushman’s methods. It led to an altercation which, in turn, led to Spector adopting the Moon Knight persona. The character sounds like the sort of adversary a Netflix version of Moon Knight would chose, but it remains to be seen if Marvel Studios will also pull from the early lore to deliver the character his initial foe.
As it happens, Marvel has confirmed precious little about the series. According to various reports, Oscar Isaac will star as Spector with May Calamawy reportedly onboard to play another undisclosed character. The only think the studio has confirmed is the presence of Egyptian director Mohamed Diab for several episodes.
Production is said to begin in March, at which point Marvel will presumably confirm some details — although production is no guarantee an info from the studio will be forthcoming.
