Successful Crowdfunded Latinx Fantasy Series ‘Helm Greycastle’ Comes To Image/Top Cow Comics

Writer Henry Barajas (La Voze M.A.Y.O.: Tata Rambo), artist Rahmat M. Handoko (Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix, Ultimate Spider-Man: Infinite Comic) and colour artist Bryan Valenza (Witchblade) are bringing their all-new Latin crowdfunded fantasy series, Helm Greycastle, to Image Comics and Top Cow this April.

A four-issue mini-series from Image Comics, Helm Greyscale started off as a successful Kickstarter we featured on here last year. An more than familiar genre for many who would pick this book up, but with Latinx twist.

As writer Barajas explains, the whole experience was something of an eye-opener for him:

“What if the Aztec Empire defeated the Spanish Conquistadors? As a Mexican-American who has had no formal education on my indigenous background, writing this book has been very empowering. I’m excited to share some Mesoamerican history while mixing it with swords and sorcery.”

As for the plot?

“In Helm Greycastle, the last dragon prince has been abducted—kept prisoner by an unknown threat: Aztec Mexica! Helm Greycastle and his outsider comrades are here to save the prince—but are recruited by a resistance plotting to overthrow Montezuma. Will Greycastle help save the people of MEXICA…or rescue the dragon prince and flee?”

Look out for Helm Greycastle #1 will be available at on Wednesday, April 28th, but take a gander now at our preview too:
