Peek Under The Hood With ‘Doc Brown’s Owners’ Workshop Manual’

Insight Editions is back with another deeper dive into pop culture lore. This time it’s taking a look at perhaps the most famous time machine of all time with Back to the Future: DeLorean Time Machine: Doc Brown’s Owners’ Workshop Manual. From Back to the Future co-creator, co-writer, and co-producer Bob Gale and illustrator / film artist Joe Walser, this book provides the backstory of the iconic time machine as well as a detail rich technical manual.

“It seemed natural that we would want to fill in the backstory of Doc’s early time travel experiments and how he arrived at the point of putting it into a car and then expanding it even further to fill in all the great little missing stories that you just kind of assume from the movies,” Gale said. “But here we are saying, ‘Okay, this is how Doc met Marty. This is what happened to Doc when he first arrived in 2015. This is how he survived in the Old West until Marty came back for him.’ These are questions people always ask me.”

Back to the Future: DeLorean Time Machine: Doc Brown’s Owners’ Workshop Manual looks at both the original version of the car and the updated flying model. It showcases the DeLorean’s inner workings including its gull-wing doors and Doc’s cutting-edge modifications like the Flux Capacitor and Mr. Fusion. It also includes unique handwritten excerpts from Doc Brown’s journals recounting his life after World War II, how he came to build the Time Machine, his first trip to 2015, how he survived his accidental trip to 1885 and much more.

Back to the Future: DeLorean Time Machine: Doc Brown’s Owners’ Workshop Manual is set for release on March 30th, 2021 and is currently available for pre-order at your local bookstore and Amazon.
