‘Heroes Reborn’ Gets Some One-Shot Tie-Ins This May
by James Ferguson
Marvel Comics has been sharing more details about Heroes Reborn, the upcoming series from Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness featuring a world without the Avengers. Of course, it wouldn’t be a comic book event without a few additional comics to tie-into the story. The publisher has share details on some new one-shots set in this world.
Heroes Reborn: Hyperion & The Imperial Guard is written by Ryan Cady and illustrated by Michele Bandini. Featuring a cover by Chris Sprouse, the comic follows the surprising beginnings of Hyperion as his cosmic quests with his Shi’ar friends come to an end. None of the young heroes are ready to say goodbye though so they take a quick mission in the Negative Zone that could lead them to horror and agony. It’s due out on May 12th, 2021.
Heroes Reborn: Peter Parker: The Amazing Shutterbug from writer Marc Benardin and artist Rafael de Latorre looks at the would-be webhead’s new life. Peter Parker is the biggest Hyperion fan in the world. He’s friends with his favorite hero thanks to a photography gig at the Daily Bugle. This sounds an awful lot like Jimmy Olsen, but I’ll reserve judgment. This is out on May 12th, 2021 and features a cover by Mike McKone.
Writer Steve Orlando and artist Bernard Chang brings us Heroes Reborn: Magneto and the Mutant Force. Years ago, Magneto and Professor X led the planet’s mutants in a final push for independence against the Squadron Supreme of America. The Squadron’s Mutant Masscare left mutantkind forever wounded and Xavier dead…or so Magneto thought. Now, Magneto discovers Xavier clinging to life in the astral plane. He gathers his allies for a rescue mission unlike any other to restore hope for mutantkind before it’s too late. Due out on May 19th, 2021, Heroes Reborn: Magneto and the Mutant Force has a cover by Nick Bradshaw.
Writer Jim Zub and artist Steven Cummings team up again for Heroes Reborn: Young Squadron, showing how a group of young heroes make their mark on the world where the Squadron Supreme of America has taken root in the hearts and minds of all. Kid Spectrum (Sam Alexander), Girl Power (Kamala Khan), and the all-new Falcon (Miles Morales) are ready to defend the world against all threats…or are they? Look for this on May 26th, 2021 with a cover by Karl Kerschl.
Finally, Heroes Reborn: Siege Society from writer Cody Ziglar and artist Paco Medina follows a new team of villains on the loose made up of Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton, Scott Lang, and Victor Creed as they lead an assault on the Squadron. The Civil War split the Squadron Supreme in half, sending Nighthawk to Europe to form his own team. Not everyone there is okay with that. Baron Zemo has put a team together to take them down. Heroes Reborn: Siege Society features a cover by Ken Lashley and is set for release on May 26th, 2021.
I’m sure there are more tie-ins on the way as we explore this world without the Avengers. I’m a sucker for alternate reality stories so I’m definitely curious about this one.
