Review Round Up: Reviewing This Week’s New Comics

by Olly MacNamee

A new week of comic books for our thirsty reviewers to dive into. But, which titles did we look at over the past week? As ever, it’s a mixed bag in terms of genres, opinions and scores, as you’ll read for yourselves in our new weekend round up of comic book reviews starting with my look at Once & Future #16 here as well as my thoughts on Nocterra #1 coming out in a couple of week’s from Image Comics here. I also finally got round to reviewingThe Green Lantern Season Two #11 here. And what an outstanding issue it was too!

Fellow reviewer, Benjamin Hall, reviewed Miskatonic #5 from AfterShock Comics here, as well as a review for G.I. Joe: Castlefall from IDW here. One book he really didn’t take to was AWA Upshot’s American Ronin #5. If you are reading this one, what did you think? Did he get it right, or not?

On the X-Men front, Tony Thornley reviewed Cable #8 here, and X-Force #17 from the previous week here, while Scott Redmond looked at Marauders #18 here. We do have a lot of X-Men fans here.

Scott also gave his views on Champions #4 here as well as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin #2 here. And from the previous week’s new comics he looked over Taskmaster #3 here and Power Pack #3 here, both from Marvel Comics.

James Ferguson got around to reviewing Dark Horse’s Black Hammer: Visions #1 here, Mighty Morphin #4 from BOOM! Studios here and Johnny Book And The Silly Blizzard in his new fun column ‘Ferg & Sons’ (here), in which the father and his two sons review comics for kids, and our youngest contributors here at comicon.com. Just don’t let Children Protective Services know, alright?

Rachel Bellwoar reviewed Archie Comics’ Sabrina the Teenage Witch: Something Wicked #5 here, and Cesareo Garasa cast his reviewer’s eye over Bliss #5 from Image Comics here.

Last, but in no means least, we have Brendan M Allen who reviewed Image Comics Haha #2 here and AfterShock Comics’ Scout’s Honor #2 here as well as Knock ‘Em Dead #3 also from AfterShock Comics here.

Like I said at the start, that’s a good selection of titles from various publishers and offering various types of stories for anyone’s tastes. Which ones are on your pull list? Or, after reading our reviews, are there any you might want to add?

That’s all for this week, but do check in throughout the week for more reviews, and news from the colourful world of comic books. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks.
