Jupiter’s Legacy, the first television series to emerge from Netflix’s partnership with Mark Millar will finally arrives on May 7th.
According to the the services, the program is “an epic superhero drama that spans decades and navigates the complex dynamics of family, power, and loyalty.” Based on the Millar and Frank Quitely comic book series, it is set in a world in which superheroes really did appear in the 1930s, but the story takes place nearly two generations later as the original heroes contemplate retirement and their children find living up to their parents’ legacies a more difficult burden then they ever imagined. The cast includes Josh Duhamel, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade, Matt Lanter and Tenika Davis.
Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight initially developed the program, but exited the production halfway through shooting back in 2019. Production wrapped sometime ago, but postproduction and COVID-19 delayed the series for quite awhile.
Jupiter’s Legacy will be the first television series to emerge from Netflix’s purchase of Millar’s Millarworld comic book company. The other television series, based on American Jesus, has not been cast while Reborn, one of the films on the Millarworld slate, is set to star Sandra Bullock.
Jupiter’s Legacy comes to Netflix on May 7th.
