Preview: ‘Chaos Agent’ Is A Splatterpunk Successor To ‘Hard Boiled’
by Tito W. James

“Philip Blank is the top agent for the scifi spy organization W.O.R.L.D.E., keeping capitalism safe from aliens, time travellers, and maladjusted geniuses off their meds. But lately he’s been having doubts about his work, wondering if there might be more to life than missions and mega-violence. This starts Philip on a death-or-more-death journey through the weirdest W.O.R.L.D.E. has to offer; epicurean terrorist organizations, horny robots, alien origin stories, ex-spies with metal eyes, and a web of secrets and lies of Blank’s own making.“

Chaos Agent is a high-concept, hyper-detailed action comic in the same vein as Geof Darrow’s Hard Boiled or Shaolin Cowboy. The four-issue mini-series is written by Deniz Camp, drawn by Filya Bratukhin, colored by Jason Wordie, and lettered by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. It is a titanic testament to teamwork and the proof is on the page.
Certain artists create worlds so alive & so vibrant that every incidental background character has an agenda, every room is a snapshot of a dozen stories in progress (as it is in real life). Each time you read them, you find something new.

As a die-hard fan of action-centric comic books and the sheer insanity of Hard Boiled, I’m eagerly anticipating Chaos Agent. So if you want more action-heavy comics in your life be sure to pick up Chaos Agent June 2nd at your local comic shop.
